What it is
Lingo is Abbott’s over-the-counter glucose sensor for adults who are not on insulin. It is worn on the upper arm for up to 14 days and shows glucose every minute in the Lingo app. It is not for diagnosing diseases, including diabetes (Lingo US). In the UK it is CE and UKCA marked, costs £59 for a 2-week sensor and is sold by Lingo and Boots (Lingo UK). In the US a 2-week sensor is $54.
Does it measure ketones?
No. When Abbott announced Lingo in January 2022 it said a ketone sensor was in development (report), but the Lingo sold today measures glucose only; neither the US nor the UK Lingo site mentions ketones. Abbott’s ketone sensing arrived instead in Libre Duo, a medical device for people with diabetes. For a ketone sensor sold to consumers, see SiBio KS3.
